  Is Jdubs practice of Teenage baptism really any better than Infant Baptism?

  so i was thinking the other day about how the jdubs always mock the catholics for baptizing infants who can't make a true commitment to god so the sybol of dedication is empty.

  well, as anyone who's been in the org knows there is a culture of pressuring teenagers to get baptized.

  if u r over 12yo it is a question that is constantly asked.

  Do you really think that Jehovah tells the writers what to write?

  Where in the Bible, are all of these rules written?

  I would bet, that, like me, they have a friend getting baptized, and they are standing right next to them. They have no idea what they are doing, or understand the questions they were asked. How hard is it, to answer questions, eg Watchtower, read the paragraph, and pick out the answer. DUH DUH

  JW's would probably not bother recycling. When Jehovah opens the earth, to swallow all of the wicked non-JW's, all of the garbage will be thrown too.

  As for the earths resources, Jehovah will provide all that is needed.

  $10 gas

  my father-in-law heard from someone who has connections with the higher-ups that the society thinks gas will be $10 a gallon in january.

  i'm "bookmarking" that statement on my calendar.

  if january comes around and gas isn't $10 i'm going to remind him of "what the society said".

  A know it all girl at work, told me that gas was going to $10.00. But she also had a 10 foot python, rode her own race horses, has her pilots license, owns 4 homes in different cities, had lasix surgery 3 years ago, and told me that I didn't have it 5+years ago, because it wasn't around yet, her ex-husband is sueing for alimony, tells me that everybody in the clinic is asking if I have a disease, (because I am blonde and pale), she is a vegetarian, who makes comments about whatever we bring for lunch, such as wormy meat, and do you know how that was raised?, and knows more about nutrition than God.

  So you can take the $10.00 statement to the bank.

  My sister won tickets to see the Doobie Brothers, when she was 16 years old off of the radio. (16 years ago)

  My father said he knew a song that they were famous for, and started singing it. "Hang down your head Tom Doobie, Hang down your head and cry!"

  I would love to go! Who would have thought to put them together!! You will have a great time.

  well it is official....i am out!.

  got a call this morning to confirm usual social activities.. enrolled both kiddos in vbs at the various denominations locally (they all work together to have a vbs every other week throughout summer).. 3 jw mommies are allowing their kids to attend the sb vbs next week.. no invites to the dc, only pleas to drive up and co-host the hooky pool party.. i feel kinda guilty since i know many damn near everyone has have had such horrific experiences leaving.. i wanna tell everyone thank you!

  because without this site and the fellowship i would still be a captive.

  yknot, Good for YOU and your kids!!

  My daughter used to hit all of the vacation bible schools, and church summer camps, that she could squeeze in every summer. She loves just being around people.

  As I write, she is at Episcopal Church camp, 150 miles away. for a week. Took her up Sunday. She is 16, and has been going to this one for 8 years. It was packed with teenagers. The director said they had the biggest turnout in years for the high school group. You should have seen the hugging, and squeeling going on. These kids only see each other 1 time a year.

  Several girls told the director, that this group has always been close. They lost 3 teenagers to a small plane crash a few months ago. Many My Space memorials to them.

  Your children will have a great time. If they have the same lessons next week, at a different church, BiG DeAL!!! They will be around different kids, making new friends. Even in a small town, you need to associate with others, besides the same ole' friends. You may find that the stuck up girl, isn't so bad!!!

  CASHLESS SOCIETY - HOW CLOSE?

  lately i have noticed very strange activity at my local gas stations that i go to in the vancouver area people are being asked to use the debit/credit cards at the pump.

  the last time i tried to use a debit card to pay gas inside a gas station i got scolded by the cashier, he said "please pay at the pump!!.

  i say gee i guess he is having a bad day or something..... well so i go to anouther gas station - a shell station and the same rhetoric .."please pay at the pump!

  I have just paid all of my bills on the internet, for the first time. A couple of accounts were hold outs, on getting onto the internet. Now its 100%.

  I still refuse to get a debit card. I really don't have a good reason. I have a hard time writing down withdrawls. I have duplicate checks, because I can't remember to write things down. I am always in a hurry.

  i was so adament with my husband about not meeting with them./ i said "no" under no uncertain terms that i did not want to have this meeting.

  so, they have been hounding us for days about it, repeatedly asking.. finally, my husband and the elder both come up to me asking about it.

  so i just said to elder that the last meeting was discouraging and i don't want to be put through that again.

  Probably too late for my suggestion. But...

  I will stand up to almost anyone. But if I don't want to, or if it would be to my advantage not to, such as your case, saying something I would be sorry for, I walk away. I will hold my tongue.

  My first thought was for you to pack an over-night bag, put your purse and bag in your locked car. Have only your keys, by the back door. If the elders start not "encouraging" you, then you can excuse yourself, to go to the bathroom, and sneak out the back door, or window, and leave. When you get to the hotel of your choice, you can call your husband, and tell him to make the bad men go away, and go to the pay phone at the corner, and you will give him further instructions.

  Tell him you will show him a good time, when he gets there.

  And sorry you have to go through this crap.
